Republican Attorney General Mark Brnovich has filed a lawsuit against the Scottsdale Unified School District (SUSD) silencing parents at school and for failing to give parents a proper hearing at two August school meetings. The meetings were to include two topics: Time Model Issues and Mask Mandates for the children. The parents were under the impression they would be allowed to speak on behalf of both issues.

According to Fox News: “The meeting agenda said the event would be broken up into two parts – a “public hearing” for the time model issue and a “special meeting” for matter related to masks.”

They did not say that the comment section would be limited to the time model issues.

“The Board repeatedly cut off any speaker whenever Greenburg determined that the topic discussed strayed too far from the 2021-2022 instructional time model,” the lawsuit states. “In so doing, the Board, through Greenburg, applied a content-based restriction on speech.”

“The Board purposely bifurcated the agenda for the August 17, 2021, meeting to avoid allowing public comment on a proposed mask mandate and other items listed on the agenda under the “special meeting,” it said.

The second meeting on August 23 was much the same, with the comments restricted again to the time model issues. After complaints were issued about silencing parents at school, the school board defended themselves, saying they were allowed to use “content restrictions.”

Fox News states: “The board held a regular meeting on August 24, but those wishing to provide public comment were required to do so in person despite the meeting being live-streamed and no audience was allowed in person, the lawsuit states. Those who showed up to the meeting were escorted into the meeting room individually.”

When the parents were finally allowed to express complaints, they were repeatedly interrupted and discounted, saying the protests were false. One board member was even heard rudely cursing after being corrected for interrupting out of place(see video of the meeting). Other parents are currently suing this same Mr. Greenburg for “intimidating them into silence after they criticized him.”

Brnovich tweeted about his lawsuit saying, “Today, our office filed a lawsuit seeking to remove Jann-Michael Greenburg from the Scottsdale Unified School Board. Parents should never be silenced regarding the education of their children.”

Our Take on Silencing Parents at School:

We applaud Attorney General Mark Brnovich for standing up for the rights of parents. The school system should be the servant to the family, not vice versa. It is obvious to us that the government schools’ agenda does not have our children’s best interests at heart. The public school system exists to push its own wicked agenda onto our children. The ploy is to make the parents feel they have just enough of a part in their kid’s education and just enough voice to let them think they are in control. When in reality, the parent’s voice is silenced, and it is situations like the above that make that even more apparent. We applaud those who will take a stand and bring the truth to light.
